With Warm Computers, AWARDS pushes further into the eclectic territory they’ve helped define—blending elements of post-rap, art rap, art pop, new wave, and what they call “intellectual disco.”
Warm Computers is the second release from AWARDS, the creative collaboration between Thesis Sahib (James Kirkpatrick) and Michel Funken (pronounced FOON-KIN). Thesis handles vocals, and additional sound composition, while Michel contributes instrumentals and backing vocals. Together, they bring decades of experience in the indie and experimental rap scenes, dating back to the early 2000s. Both artists have extensive solo catalogs and have worked on numerous collaborative projects, often alongside a broader community of underground hip hop artists across North America, Europe, and Japan.
This limited edition release includes 300–500 color vinyl pressings, each housed in a matte, full-color jacket. Every package comes with a download card for Warm Computers as well as the previous AWARDS EP, Futuristic Jokes. Also included is a black-and-white lyric and art book, offering a deeper look into the world of AWARDS.
