Thesis Sahib (a.k.a. James Kirkpatrick) is a Canadian rapper, visual artist, and sonic experimenter known for his intricate lyricism, handmade electronics, and boundary-pushing approach to hip hop. Active since the early 2000s, he’s a staple of the underground and experimental rap scenes, blending rapid-fire vocals with self-built instruments and beats crafted from circuit-bent toys, Gameboys, obscure samples, and found sounds. Outside of music, his artwork spans sculpture, graffiti, and sound-based installations, frequently exhibited across North America and beyond. Whether on stage or in the gallery, Thesis Sahib challenges conventions and redefines what hip hop can be.
